The Baker Brothers
20 Years ago carpet fitters Ricky and Paul Baker sold their cars and started their Carpet business Cosy Carpets from a small industrial unit in Bury St Edmunds. Both brothers are experienced floor layers and this has been a key to providing the correct products and advice to meet their customer’s needs.
Moving to Thetford
After a year, Cosy Carpets outgrew this building. They found the perfect premises in St Nicholas Street Thetford, from which Cosy Carpets successfully traded from for 10 years selling Carpets, Beds and Rugs. During the next 10 years the brothers formed many lasting partnerships with commercial and domestic customers.
Sadly, the building Cosy Carpets rented was destroyed by a devastating fire. The business then had to trade from a make-shift porta cabin shop. This was a tough time for Cosy Carpets and the Baker brothers will always be grateful for the help they received from the fire service, friends and loyal customers.
In April 2003 the Baker brothers decided the time was right to invest in Cosy Carpets and Comfy Beds future. They purchased their own retail site on Mundford Road, Thetford, Norfolk. The Home Superstore has 15,000 sqft of floor space to display a massive selection of Carpets, Vinyls, Beds, Bedroom Furniture, Sofas and Rugs.
Over the last 20 years Cosy Carpets are proud to have supported many projects and charities in Thetford and the local area. Sponsoring local youth motorcross, boxing and various football teams. Cosy Carpets believes investing in Thetford’s future is key to the continuing success of their family run business.
20 Years on Cosy Carpets and Comfy Beds now employ over 20 people. They offer friendly, experienced and professional advice in all departments of their superstore. Cosy Carpets and Comfy Beds strives to be the shopping destination for carpets and home furnishing throughout Norfolk and Suffolk. Ricky and Paul Baker wish to thank all their customers for their support throughout the 20 Years and look forward to welcoming new customers and being an integral part of Thetford’s future.
Refurbishment and New Consultant Manager
With a recent refurbishment under their belts, as well as hundreds of new product ranges to choose from, there’s even more to discover in store. Consultant manager Steve O’Donoghue brings with him 42 years’ worth of experience in the furniture business and has been orchestrating the changes. “Steve has a great eye for style and products,” says Ricky. “He’s brought a breath of fresh air to the business.”
